About the Yakima County Republican Party
The Yakima County Republican Party is the official county affiliate of the Washington State Republican Party (WAGOP). We organize Republican voters across Yakima County, recruit and train Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs), endorse candidates for state, county, and local office, and host events including monthly central committee meetings, the annual Lincoln Day Dinner, and grassroots organizing trainings.
Decisions on endorsements and party direction are made by the central committee — Republican voters elected as PCOs from each precinct in Yakima County.

How the party is organized
The Yakima County Republican Central Committee operates under Washington State Republican Party bylaws and Washington state election law (RCW 29A.80). Republican voters in each Yakima County precinct elect a Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) every two years during the August primary. The PCOs make up the central committee, which in turn elects the executive board, votes on endorsements, and adopts the party platform.

A PCO is a Republican voter elected to represent their precinct on the county central committee. PCOs vote on endorsements, party officers, and bylaws. PCO elections happen during the August primary in even-numbered years, and any registered Republican living in the precinct may run.
How are endorsements decided?
Endorsements are voted on by the central committee — the elected PCOs from each precinct — after candidates apply and are interviewed. The 2026 slate was adopted at the Candidate Endorsement Convention. The committee can also vote to rescind an endorsement at any meeting.
